ELECTRONICS: Currently I have two Simrad NSS12 Evo2s. I run an in-hull M260 50/200 TDX transducer. I also have an LSS2 structure scan TDX on the back. Running off the system is GoFree WiFi, a SonicHub and an Autopilot unit.

SCREENSHOT: This is a hard one. I have so many cool screenshots that just scream fish! So I’ve chosen two. The first is a massive feeding frenzy above a section of coral. The marks closest to the bottom, in the green fuzz, are demersal fish (trout, dhufish, snapper). The marks above are a big school of amberjack working a patch of bait.

The second screenshot is of a flat sandy bottom that might seem relatively lifeless to the untrained eye. You’ll notice sporadic patches of bait throughout the image and a large object on the port side of the StructureScan. This is a sailfish – if you look closely you can even see its bill. When I spotted this mark, I quickly lobbed a livey towards it – minutes later we tagged a sailfish!

LUKE’S TOP TIP

Make sure your units are running off a separate power supply. Since splitting my units from my “house” power and running them from an isolated supply, my images are clearer and I’m able to get more out of my sounder with less interference.
